Overview
The Captain field is located 68 miles north of Aberdeen and its oil is relatively acidic, heavy and viscous.
Captain produces to a Floating Production Storage Offtake Vessel (FPSO). Crude oil is exported via shuttle tankers to customers in Northwest Europe (usual cargo size 500 thousand barrels) and to Nigg for further trans-shipping. The current field production is approximately 80,000 barrel per day (and 10 million standard cubic feet per day of gas), with typical Chevron entitlement of 4 cargoes per month. A small amount of gas is exported to St Fergus.
