Overview
The Hamaca Project joint venture partnership was formed by PDVSA, Chevron, and ConocoPhillips to upgrade extra-heavy crude from Venezuela's "Orinoco Belt" to a more fungible lighter crude. The upgrader, which includes hydroprocessing and coking processes, is being constructed at the Jose Industrial Site, near Puerto La Cruz in northeastern Venezuela. Commercial production is expected to be about 190,000 barrels per day, loading at the TAEJ berth (deep water) in typical cargo lots of 500-600 thousand barrels.

An independent marketing entity, Hamaca Marketing Company (HMC), has been formed to sell the Hamaca Blend syncrude and associated by-products from the upgrader project. HMC operates with complete autonomy from the parent organizations.

Commercial production of Hamaca Blend is expected in mid-2004.

Please contact Hamaca Marketing Company for more details.
